AB (ArtBlocks)

Definition:

Art Blocks is a platform founded by Erick Calderon / Snowfro and is one of the OG leaders in generative art, which is art made using mathematical algorithms. All ArtBlocks releases store the entire code on-chain, meaning that ownership is not of a jpeg or file, but of the code that generates the image in real time on the blockchain every time it is opened or viewed. Some of ArtBlocks most well-known releases are Chromie Squiggles, Ringers and Fidenzas.

    A Non Fungible Token is a unique digital asset that exists on a blockchain. On Ethereum, it is created using ERC1155 or ERC721 standard for non-fungible tokens, as opposed to ERC20 standard for fungible tokens. NFTs are used as a form of digital ownership to represent a unique asset. In a simple form, that asset could be on-chain code like @artblocks art, or a link to a jpeg like @bayc. In a more complex form, it could be a real world asset like property from @PropyInc or even a @tesla.

    An on-chain transaction occurs when the blockchain is modified and verified on the public ledger. On chain data is data that is stored on the blockchain, as opposed to centrally or on IPFS. For example, all @artblocks art is stored as code on-chain.
