Definition:

A sub-section of Twitter used by the Crypto community. Many people make a new Twitter account specifically for CT to stay on top of crypto news, follow influencers and network with others in the space. What used to be a fairly small comfy community of people that all knew and happily scammed each other… is has recently, due to the growth of the space, become somewhat fragmented into crypto twitter, NFT twitter and some other offshoots. Meaning you can now be scammed by strangers.

Degen 1: “Wow, @Cobie just got a blue check mark.”

Degen 2: “Whaaaat? We used to be so underground… Crypto Twitter just doesn’t seem the same anymore. Next thing @udiwerheimer will be shilling Avax and shitcoins. Oh wait…..”

  • Dictionary: Bear Market
    A legacy trad-fi term describing a period when the market goes down.... or even worse goes sideways in a crab market while pretending to go up but over time generally goes down. Bear markets or "bera" markets can last for weeks, months or even years. Similar to crypto winter, which describes a period when general markets are healthy but crypto markets are down only. On the plus side, Crypto Twitter gets a lot more fun.
  • Dictionary: Copypasta
    Oh… what would crypto twitter be without copypasta. We come for the riches but we ultimately stay for the entertainment. Copypasta certainly provides the latter. When some (semi-) famous person says the wrong thing on Twitter, the community can be merciless. Before they get the chance to explain or delete the tweet, it will often be copied and pasted by hundreds of CT characters into their status, forever immortalising and embarrassing the originator of the stupid, ill-thought-out bad take. One of our favourites is “Devs do something” featured in this dictionary.
  • Dictionary: Cozomo de’ Medici
    An anonymous NFT collector on CT. The name is taken from a member of the Medici banking family of Florence in the 15th Century who became a patron of the arts and invested the equivalent of tens of millions of dollars on art and culture. Snoop Dogg identified himself as Cozomo de Medici on twitter. However this was later called into question. Since then Paris Hilton has also claimed to be Cozomo. The mystery continues!
  • Dictionary: Crypto Community
    In a general sense, it is the like-minded people (degens) around the world with an interest in crypto, NFTs and web3 who are hanging out in the metaverse and IRL… though most likely they will be found on CT, or crypto Twitter, that dark corner of the social media giant where degens say gm, talk about yield and occasionally rip each other to pieces. On a micro level, it can be the community around a specific coin or NFT project.
  • Dictionary: Discord
    A community messaging tool that, apart from CT, is the primary place for crypto and NFT projects to communicate with their community. It was originally used by gamers to chat while playing before cypto degens took over. Some Discords are known for their high quality members and the alpha that is shared there.
