Definition:

Typically, in the old school New York money markets and more recently in crypto, a whale is an extremely rich investor. The opposite would be a fish or little fish, that has a small portfolio to invest.

    A lesser used term to describe a trader that is not quite a whale and not quite a fish. To be honest, this is rarely used!

    We can talk about whales, dolphins, minnows, fish etc but in reality, crypto can be divided into two types of people – whales and plebs. As the name suggests, plebs exist to watch @ivan and @bitboy videos, be whales’ exit liquidity and basically get rekt.

    A trad-fi 80s term that made it to crypto. It denotes an investor with such a large portfolio they dwarf all the other fish in the sea and cause a large splash whenever they make a move. Can also be used to describe the holder of a specific coin e.g. an ETH whale.
