ICO is the acronym for Initial Coin Offering. It was the fund raising process of choice of Ethereum based blockchain companies in the 2017 bull cycle. To a large extent, it was reliving the glory days of dot com boom when a business plan and firm handshake could get you millions of dollars in VC funding. A white paper and a website were enough for an ICO. Community members could buy tokens and invest in the project at an early stage. Ethereum had the first ICO and then triggered thousands of copycats. Many were out and out scams. But many of today’s biggest projects were ICOs including Binance, Solana, and many more. The term ICO is a nod to IPOs or Initial Public Offerings in the good old days.

Laughing my fucking ass off. An extension of LMAO. Saying something so outlandish that it doesn’t make sense - an all-too common occurrence in the Web3 world today. A recent example would be an un-doxxed team releasing an NFT without a roadmap, bots in the server, paid influencers and expecting a 0.2 mint price…

The collective noun for any new venture in web3, could be a new DeFi protocol or a group of NFTs. These can be generative, a limited series or whatever clever technique the Devs and project owner decides. Some will have utility; others will look nice as PFPs. Some may have a roadmap and some not.

An insidious scam where a crypto project takes the funds that have been raised and disappears. They never deliver on roadmap, provide no further utility and buyers are caught holding the bag. This could have been the plan all along and the Discord and twitter mentions can become toxic quickly.
