The OG daddy of all dog coins is Doge coin which was started as a joke and was abandoned by its creator. It is known as a meme coin, because its visual identity is based on a Shiba Inu dog from a meme and has no other real utility. It is a fork of Bitcoin so is pretty much identical except it is inflationary and uses a weaker form of cryptographic security. Nevertheless, it has a market cap in the tens of billions of dollars and in true crypto fashion has been copied hundreds if not thousands of times by other dog coins. Elon Musk is known as the Dogefather because of his relentless shilling of Dogecoin on Twitter and other media.

A crypto currency based on an internet meme. Like $DOGE, they may start out as a joke, but can turn into a movement that makes many early investors considerably wealthy. Generally they are a shit coin with no utility, but they have cute dog or cat face on them so we love them.

Short for Proof of Attendance Protocol NFT. These can be rewarded to attendees of an event, in the form of a virtual or physical POAP. Utility can be added to them as they are collected. It’s like a postcard from your Web3 journey.

The collective noun for any new venture in web3, could be a new DeFi protocol or a group of NFTs. These can be generative, a limited series or whatever clever technique the Devs and project owner decides. Some will have utility; others will look nice as PFPs. Some may have a roadmap and some not.

An insidious scam where a crypto project takes the funds that have been raised and disappears. They never deliver on roadmap, provide no further utility and buyers are caught holding the bag. This could have been the plan all along and the Discord and twitter mentions can become toxic quickly.
