In a general sense, it is the like-minded people (degens) around the world with an interest in crypto, NFTs and web3 who are hanging out in the metaverse and IRL… though most likely they will be found on CT, or crypto Twitter, that dark corner of the social media giant where degens say gm, talk about yield and occasionally rip each other to pieces. On a micro level, it can be the community around a specific coin or NFT project.

First there were Bitcoiners, then there were crypto people, then DeFi degens… behold… the rise of a new demographic: The NFTer. They do not always have a crypto background. They may have entered the space through mainstream rather than underground channels. Like NBA Topshots, Gary Vee or other mainstream influencers. They are often Instagram people, bringing their Zuckerberg-induced web2 prejudices and anger/outrage with them. But often they are wonderful people. Unfortunately because they did not “grow up” with crypto, they often have terrible security practices and are vulnerable to scams. They should join MHOUSE to find welcoming, likeminded people with some OG crypto experience so they can learn best practices and stay SAFU.

Not all blockchains are the same. Each one has a different set of rules and structures in place – which are the protocols. While the dominant Web2 protocol is HTTP, each blockchain like BTC, ETH and SOL has a distinct protocol. Protocols ensure security and allows users to manage their data how they like.

Short for 2-factor authentication. This is an extra security step, in addition to username and password, used to log in to (web2) websites and services. It is usually in the form of a code that is generated by an app on the user's (mobile) device or a code generated online and sent to the user's email address or phone. Codes sent to phones by SMS are vulnerable to attack in the event that someone clones the sim card or phone number, while codes generated by a user's mobile authenticator app or dedicated hardware device are considered safer.

Web1 was so long ago nobody really remembers what it was. We think it was the first web pages that mirrored newspapers with static content that was posted to be read. The precursor to "interactive" or social media driven web2. The first experiment with a global information system before it was corrupted by Facebooks and Googles and way before web3 came to save us.
